Yearning for the Light

YEARNING FOR THE LIGHT

OH WHAT A LIGHT, A BLINDING LIGHT

IT WOULD SEEM IT’S TIME I GO

I GRIP YOUR HAND HOLDING ON SO TIGHT

YOU’RE LOVE I HOPE TO KNOW

I SHOULD HAVE SPENT THIS LIFE SERVING YOU MY LORD

INSTEAD I SERVED THIS WORLD

MY LOVE FOR YOU IS NOW SO TRUE

YEARNING FOR THOSE GATES OF PEARL

I LAY HERE NOW CHEEKS SOAKED WITH TEARS

BODY RAVAGED WITH DISEASE

REMEMBERING HOW I SPENT THESE YEARS

SINNING RATHER THAN ON MY KNEES

DESERVING OF YOUR LOVE I MAY NOT BE

BUT I ASK THAT YOU’LL FORGIVE

HUMBLY I MAKE MY PLEA

IN YOUR LOVING HOME I WISH TO LIVE

IN MY HEART I’VE ALWAYS LOVED YOU

WHILE LIVING A LUSTFUL LIFE

MY SOUL IS ONCE AGAIN PURE AND TRUE

PRAISING YOU WITH THE LAST OF MY MIGHT

OH FATHER PLEASE FORGIVE MY SINS

AND ALL OF MY WORLDLY DEEDS

NOW THAT THIS LIFE HAS COME TO AN END

I SEE THAT ONLY YOU JESUS CAN FULFILL ALL MY NEEDS

Eyes Open, Ears Perked

Lurking just out of sight, danger may be, keen and cautious we must remain. Sometimes the worst threats are the ones not making a sound, out of sight out of mind. Life is all about taking risks but we shouldn’t live riskily. Eyes open, ears perked, always remain aware of your surroundings and company. Hazardous behavior could lead to perilous situations jeopardizing a beautiful future. Safety is found in sensibility. Let us all be sensible in our decision making offering our lives security in our chosen sanctuary.Image

No Man Is An Island

No man is an island; all of our lives are connected in some fashion or another. It really is a small world and life is too short. My talents are different from yours and yours are different from hers but us all doing what we’re called to do makes the world go ‘round. The CEO of a Fortune 500 company, as rich and powerful as he may be, still needs the farmer and the farmer needs the sanitation worker and we all need our pastors. James’ fiance is Larry’s cousin Sarah, Mary’s best friend, and Mary’s Aunt Helen was James’ third grade teacher. No matter the degrees of separation we are all connected and in need of one another’s contribution to this existence. No man is an island but together we can build a strong nation.Image

Winds of Change

The winds of change are upon us. Change can be either a good or a bad thing depending on the change we’re trying to make. Time brings change and hopefully growth in each of us. Experience and wisdom gained should be utilized in our change. Don’t be left twisting in the wind, determine your own direction for change. Breezing through this life of blustery weather and storms on a current of air carrying you to a destination not of your choosing is a waste of existence. Don’t just glide, jet! Make your change, don’t just let it happen.Image

Honor: A Classic Characteristic

What stand’s the test of time? Times change, styles change but things of great substance remain. Those older things of great substance and value that remain are not described as “old” they’re considered “classic”. The same things are done today that were done yesterday, they’re just done differently now.  Honorable character in man is “classic” behavior that we should all exhibit. Honor is a characteristic valued by every generation since the beginning of time. Be that great man or woman of honor, your memory will stand the test of time in all the lives you’ve touched.Image

Erosion of Greatness

Even the greatest of things can be eroded away. It may start slowly with a trickle that grows into a stream. In time that stream becomes a river, powerful enough to strip materials from the greatness and deposit them elsewhere. Over an extended period of time the shape and design is altered by this erosion. A mighty great thing is left with a gaping hole in it. Is there a trickle growing inside the greatness you’re attempting to build? If there is, recognize it early and dam it up before it grows. If we continue to allow trickles to grow into rivers, we’ll all have giant canyons in our lives. Image

Maintenance your love

All things in life need tune ups. We maintenance our bodies, homes, cars but we rarely think about the maintenance of our relationships. Think about those things in your relationship that have become worn, damaged or even broken. What are we doing to repair and replenish the love in our most intimate and important relationships? Continue to take that love for granted and it might just break down on you.  Image
